1. Acceptance of these Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing or using
DirectBeam: File Transfer, Android package name
com.quizfans.directbeam, you agree to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the app.
If you use DirectBeam on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2. Service description
DirectBeam is an Android file-transfer utility. Depending on device, operating-system version, permissions, network conditions, application build and feature availability, functions may include:
- Send and Receive between compatible Android devices;
- Wi-Fi Direct or compatible local-network transfer;
- Secure Transport V6 for supported Android-to-Android sessions;
- Group Beam for supported multi-receiver transfers;
- PC Connect for browser-based local transfer;
- Apple & Web Transfer for iPhone, iPad, Mac and other compatible browsers;
- local-only hotspot creation where supported by Android;
- transfer progress, history, retry, supported resume and integrity verification;
- diagnostic and connection-information tools;
- advertising in the free version;
- optional DirectBeam Pro features purchased through Google Play.
DirectBeam does not promise complete migration of an entire phone, installed applications, application-private data, passwords, SMS history, call history, WhatsApp databases, iCloud backups or other protected platform data unless a particular function is expressly made available and described in the app.
3. No DirectBeam account or cloud-storage service
DirectBeam does not require a DirectBeam account for its ordinary transfer functions and does not operate a DirectBeam cloud-storage service for files selected for local transfer.
This does not prevent Google Play, Google advertising, Nearby Connections or other third-party platform services from processing technical information under their own terms where those services are used by the app.
4. User-initiated transfers
You control the files, folders and devices involved in a transfer. DirectBeam acts on selections, permissions and connection approvals provided by you or by the participating device owner.
You are responsible for:
- selecting the correct sending and receiving devices;
- reviewing the files before transfer;
- confirming the intended recipient;
- checking the destination after transfer;
- keeping independent backups of important information;
- deleting transferred copies when they are no longer needed;
- protecting confidential, personal, medical, financial, business or legally privileged information.
5. Ownership and authority to transfer content
You may transfer only content that you own or are legally authorised to access, copy, process and share.
You are responsible for obtaining all required consent from:
- the owner of the sending device;
- the owner of the receiving device;
- the owner or subject of the transferred content;
- an employer, client, organisation or other rights holder where applicable.
You retain ownership of your files. DirectBeam does not claim ownership of content you transfer.
6. Android-to-Android Secure Transport V6
Supported Android-to-Android Secure Transport V6 sessions use authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption, ephemeral session keys, peer-verification mechanisms and integrity checking.
These protections apply only to sessions where Secure Transport V6 is active and supported. Security also depends on the condition of the participating devices, the operating system, the selected recipient and the user’s actions.
A successful connection, hash result or integrity check does not guarantee that a file is safe, lawful, malware-free or appropriate to open.
7. PC Connect
PC Connect allows an Android device and a browser-enabled computer to exchange files over the same local network through a temporary authenticated local HTTP session.
You must:
- use PC Connect only on a trusted private network;
- keep the displayed local address, QR code and session token private;
- verify that the browser device is the intended computer;
- stop the local server after use;
- avoid forwarding the local port to the public internet;
- avoid using untrusted public, hotel, café or shared networks where other users may attempt to access local devices.
8. Apple & Web Transfer
Apple & Web Transfer allows an iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC, tablet or other compatible browser-enabled device to exchange selected files with the Android device through a temporary local browser session.
The browser device may connect by:
- scanning the QR code displayed by DirectBeam;
- opening the local address shown in the app;
- joining the same trusted Wi-Fi network;
- joining a DirectBeam local-only hotspot where supported.
No DirectBeam application is required on the browser device, but the participating browser and operating system may impose their own limitations.
In particular:
- the browser may require the user to select files manually;
- downloads may be saved to Files or Downloads rather than automatically to a photo library;
- the browser may suspend or interrupt a transfer when the screen is locked, the page is closed or the browser enters the background;
- large transfers may require the page and device screen to remain active;
- the user may need to reselect a file after a browser reload or interrupted upload;
- browser and operating-system updates may change compatibility or behaviour.
9. Local-only hotspot
Where supported, DirectBeam may request Android to create a local-only Wi-Fi hotspot. This network is intended for communication between nearby devices and normally does not provide internet access.
You are responsible for connecting only authorised devices, protecting any displayed hotspot credentials and ending the hotspot session after use. Availability and behaviour depend on Android, the device manufacturer, permissions and hardware support.
10. Group Beam
Group Beam may permit a sender to transfer selected files to multiple compatible receiver devices. Each receiver may have different speed, completion state, interruption risk and storage availability.
You are responsible for confirming every intended recipient before beginning or continuing a group transfer. DirectBeam does not guarantee identical completion time or success for every receiver.
11. File metadata and destination behaviour
DirectBeam attempts to preserve file name, contents and available metadata where supported by Android, the browser, the source, the destination and the selected storage provider.
Exact metadata preservation is not guaranteed. The receiving system may:
- rename duplicate files;
- change the save location;
- modify timestamps;
- restrict access to certain folders;
- convert or process media;
- retain embedded metadata such as EXIF or geographic information.
You should inspect sensitive metadata before transferring or publishing files.
12. Resume, retry and integrity verification
DirectBeam may support chunked transfer, retry, HTTP range requests, partial recovery and resume for compatible transfers.
Resume availability is not guaranteed for every device, protocol, browser, file provider or interruption type. A browser may require the user to reselect a source file before an interrupted upload can continue.
Integrity verification helps identify some incomplete or altered transfers, but users should still open and inspect important files and retain independent backups.
13. Prohibited use
You must not use DirectBeam to:
- access a device, file, network or session without authorisation;
- transfer illegal, infringing, stolen, abusive or unauthorised content;
- distribute malware, spyware, ransomware, exploits or harmful code;
- mislead another user about the identity of a sender, recipient or file;
- intercept or attempt to recover another user’s transfer token;
- circumvent permissions, purchase controls, encryption, access restrictions or platform protections;
- expose a local transfer server to the public internet without authorisation and adequate protection;
- overload networks, devices or services;
- use the app in violation of copyright, privacy, confidentiality, employment, data-protection or other applicable law;
- reverse engineer or modify the app except where such restriction is prohibited by mandatory law.
14. Permissions
DirectBeam requires permissions and operating-system access appropriate to the functions selected by the user. Depending on Android version and feature, these may include nearby-device, Wi-Fi, notification, media, storage, foreground-service or location-related permissions.
If a required permission is denied or revoked, the relevant function may not operate. You may manage permissions through Android settings.
15. Device, network and platform compatibility
DirectBeam functionality depends on factors outside our direct control, including:
- device manufacturer and hardware;
- Android, iOS, iPadOS, macOS or browser version;
- Wi-Fi Direct and local-network implementation;
- Nearby Connections and Google Play services;
- router isolation, firewall and network settings;
- battery optimisation and background-process restrictions;
- available storage, memory, temperature and battery level;
- file-system, browser and storage-provider limitations;
- third-party platform changes.
We do not guarantee that every feature, file type or transfer direction will work on every device or network.
16. Free version, advertising and consent
The free version may display advertising supplied through Google Mobile Ads. Privacy or consent options may be presented through Google’s User Messaging Platform where required.
Advertising availability, format and personalisation may depend on region, consent, age eligibility, device settings and Google configuration.
You must not manipulate advertisements, generate invalid traffic or interfere with advertising measurement or consent systems.
17. DirectBeam Pro and Google Play Billing
Optional DirectBeam Pro functions may be offered as a one-time purchase or another product type clearly identified in Google Play at the time of purchase.
Prices, currency conversion, taxes, payment processing, purchase records and refund eligibility are handled under Google Play’s applicable terms and policies.
A valid Google account and supported Google Play environment may be required to purchase or restore an entitlement.
You must not:
- bypass purchase verification;
- alter purchase tokens;
- unlock paid functions without authorisation;
- use modified or unauthorised builds to avoid payment controls.
18. Updates and changes to functionality
We may issue updates that add, remove, restrict or modify functions, permissions, interfaces, compatibility, security controls, advertising or Pro entitlements.
Some updates may be necessary for security, Google Play compliance, compatibility or continued operation. Older versions may stop working with current devices or services.
19. Intellectual property
DirectBeam, its name, branding, interface, graphics, software, original source components, documentation and promotional materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property law.
Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose.
No ownership rights in DirectBeam are transferred to you.
20. Third-party platforms and trademarks
DirectBeam may interoperate with Android, Google Play services, browsers and Apple devices, but it is an independent application.
Android, Google Play and associated marks are trademarks of Google LLC. Apple, iPhone, iPad, Mac and Safari are trademarks of Apple Inc.
DirectBeam is not endorsed, sponsored or operated by Apple Inc. or Google LLC. References to those products identify compatibility or intended transfer workflows only.
21. Privacy
Use of DirectBeam is also governed by the DirectBeam Privacy Policy.
22. No backup-service guarantee
DirectBeam is a transfer utility, not a guaranteed backup, archival or disaster-recovery service.
Do not delete the original file until you have confirmed that the receiving copy is complete, readable and stored in the intended destination. Maintain an independent backup of important or irreplaceable information.
23. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DirectBeam is provided “as is” and “as available”.
We do not warrant that:
- the app will operate without interruption or error;
- every device, file, browser or network will be compatible;

- a transfer can always be resumed;
- metadata will always be preserved;
- all files will be safe or malware-free;
- third-party platforms or services will remain available or unchanged.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded.
24. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary or consequential loss arising from use or inability to use DirectBeam.
This includes, where legally permitted:
- loss, corruption, duplication or disclosure of files;
- loss of profits, business, opportunity or reputation;
- device, browser or network incompatibility;
- interrupted or incomplete transfers;
- incorrect recipient selection;
- unauthorised access resulting from an exposed QR code, token, address or unsafe network;
- failure to maintain an independent backup;
- changes made by Google, Apple, device manufacturers, browsers or network providers.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
25. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for claims, losses or expenses arising from your unlawful use of DirectBeam, your unauthorised transfer of third-party content or your material violation of these Terms.
This section does not limit mandatory consumer rights.
26. Suspension and termination
You may stop using DirectBeam at any time and uninstall the app.
We may restrict, suspend or discontinue functions where reasonably necessary for:
- security or fraud prevention;
- legal or Google Play compliance;
- protection of users, devices or networks;
- technical maintenance;
- third-party service changes;
- discontinuation of an unsupported feature.
27. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app, business model, permissions, security architecture, service providers or legal requirements change.
The revised Terms will be published on this page with a new last-updated date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by applicable law.
28. Governing law and consumer rights
Unless mandatory law requires otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
If you are a consumer, you continue to benefit from mandatory consumer rights and protections applicable in your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Before beginning formal proceedings, users are encouraged to contact us so that a reasonable resolution can be attempted.
29. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.
30. Entire agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the agreement governing use of DirectBeam, except where additional mandatory platform or consumer terms apply.
